Greg DeGuglielmo

 

Boston area native, Greg “DeGug,” recently returned to, and graduated from, Berklee College of Music. As a Berklee scholarship recipient, Greg earned his Bachelor of Music degree, with honors, in less than 3 years.  Initially self-taught, Greg focused on World Music before graduating from Simon’s Rock College of Bard.  Greg studied Drum Set privately with the late great Jazz legend, Alan Dawson, as well as with Fusion masters, Rod Morgenstein and Dave DiCenso, among others. 

 

Greg toured extensively with Max Creek for several years during the band’s full-time era. As a freelance drummer, Greg has performed and/or recorded with a wide variety of talented musicians including former Phish bassist Mike Gordon, Edie Brickell & New Bohemians bassist Brad Houser, Jazz pianist Bruce Torff, folk singer “Miriam, and Guitar wizard Matt Henderson, to name but a few.

 

Greg’s influences are too numerous and diverse to be listed here, but suffice to say they come from all walks of life. Greg will tell you that Steve Gadd is one of his all-time favorite drummers adding, Gadd plays all styles so seamlessly whether live or in the studio. He teaches us that passion and precision need not be mutually exclusive qualities…”

 

Since 1996, Greg has been a regular member of The Knot, as well as Knot founder Bruce Mandaro’s solo project, B.M.B.
